I think this cartoon is a bit dated. I used to recall hearing women say that they wished men had to worry about their look the same way women did. I couldn't understand why, because of all the problem it can cause for women. Well, I think we're at a point where men are much closer to women. Male "grooming" has taken off from what I can see (the phenomenon of the metrosexual). Along with this, the image of the perfect man--muscular, ripped abs, etc. drives images for men to emulate. Think I'm joking. The next time you're at a gym that has teens and early 20 something males there, see how often some of them check out their muscles in the mirror. So it looks like the women are getting their wish. Whether that's progress, is a different story...
